Notre paire d'Appliques, bien que légèrement plus petites, sont très proches de celles exécutées par le sculpteur, fondeur et ciseleur du Roi Jacques Caffiéri (1678 - 1755) avec l'assistance de son fils Philippe (1714 - 1774), pour Madame Infante, Louise-Élisabeth de France, pour sa résidence de Colorno.
Une autre paire figure sur le portrait de la Princesse Louise de Parme (1729 - 1821) peint par Laurent Pécheux en 1765.

Une paire d'appliques identiques figurait dans la vente Alexander (Christie's New York, le 30 avril 1999, lot 139), où elles furent adjugée pour la somme de 63 000 dollars.

Commentary
With their pierced guilloche branches and trailing foliage, these wall-lights are of a similar charcacter to those almost certainly executed by the sculpteur, fondeur et ciseleur du Roi Jacques Caffiéri (1678 - 1755), probably with the assistance of his son Philippe (1714 - 1774), which were acquired by Madame Infante, Louise-Elisabeth of France, for the Palace at Colorno (illustrated in C. Bremmer-David, Decorative Arts, An Illustrated Summary Catalogue of the Collections of the J. Paul Getty Museum, Malibu, 1993, n° 168, p. 103). A pair of two-branch wall-lights of somewhat similar form, probably also executed by Caffiéri, can be seen in the background of the 1765 portrait of Princess Luisa of Parma by Laurent Pécheux, which is now in the Palazzo Pitti, Florence.
