Rare petit Cartel,
de forme violonée, en bronze
très finement ciselé et doré.

Il repose sur une console
d'applique de type rocaille.

Riche ornementation à motifs de
branchages fleuris, feuilles d'acanthe,
volutes, contre-volutes, nœud de ruban
et attributs de musique.

 Le mouvement de
Van Der Cruse - Lacroix ( 1724 - 1796 )
est gravé au dos "Vandercruse Delacroix Paris"

The clock and bracket of scrolling foliate form,
the former with bagpipe mount to the front,
silk-backed pierced side frets.

Height 20 in.
Width 10 1/2 in.
Depth 4 1/4 in.

Three makers of this name (a father and two sons) worked in Paris in the 18th Century.
Jacques-François Vandercruse-La Croix (1724-1796) was the son of François, a master cabinet-maker in Paris, brother to another master cabinet-maker, Roger, as well as brother-in-law to the master cabinet-makers Jean-François and Simon Oeben, Jean-Henri Riesener, Simon Guillaume and founder-chaser Antoine Ravrio. An ouvrier-librehe was established in Grande Rue du Faubourg Saint-Antoine, an area where the majority of cabinet-makers settled.
